Drapery Hardware in Central Florida

The fabric gets all the attention. The drapery panels, the color, the pattern that’s what you notice when you walk into a room.
But none of it works without the hardware.
The rod that sags after six months. The brackets that pull away from the wall under the weight of lined drapery. The finials that don’t align because the installation wasn’t measured properly. The track system that jams because the installer didn’t account for the ceiling angle. These are the problems that come from treating hardware as an afterthought.
At Custom Fabric Creations, we believe the right hardware is just as crucial as the fabric itself and we mean it practically, not just as a tagline. We help Central Florida homeowners select, specify, and install the hardware that makes their window treatments look and function the way they should.
We work with all types of drapery hardware decorative rods, concealed track systems, motorized rod systems, and specialty hardware for non-standard windows.
Florida creates specific problems for window treatment hardware that don’t exist in most other climates:
Humidity and corrosion. Tampa Bay’s high humidity especially in summer accelerates corrosion on metal hardware. Cheap iron brackets rust. Aluminum tracks oxidize. The finish on decorative rods dulls and pits. Hardware that would last 15 years in Arizona might need replacing in 5 in Tampa if the wrong material was chosen.
Salt air near the coast. For homes in Pinellas, Manatee, and Sarasota counties, salt air compounds the corrosion problem significantly. Marine-grade hardware and appropriate finishes aren’t optional extras they’re requirements.
Heavy drapery weight. Lined drapery panels are heavy. The weight adds up across a wide window or a bay window with multiple panels. The hardware system needs to be specified for the actual weight not an approximation.
Non-standard window configurations. Florida’s architectural diversity concrete block construction, vaulted ceilings, off-standard window heights creates mounting situations that require custom hardware solutions. Standard rods and brackets from a home store simply don’t work.

Decorative drapery rods — The classic visible rod-and-bracket system. Available in a wide range of materials: steel, iron, wood, and aluminum. We help you select the right rod diameter, bracket projection, and finial style for your drapery weight and your room’s aesthetic.
Concealed track systems — For spaces where you want the drapery to hang with minimal visual hardware. Track systems mount discreetly and can accommodate heavy panels. Popular in contemporary interiors, multifamily properties, and anywhere a cleaner look is preferred.
Motorized curtain rod systems — Motorization is increasingly common in Tampa Bay homes particularly for high windows, large sliding doors, and homeowners who want the convenience of scheduling when drapes open and close. We install motorized rod systems with wall switch, remote, and smartphone control options.
Custom bay window and corner hardware — Bay windows and corner windows require mitered rods, corner connectors, and custom bracket configurations that aren’t available at home stores. We measure, specify, and install the hardware these configurations actually require.
Heavy-duty drapery hardware — For oversized panels, blackout drapery, and layered treatments that combine sheers with drapery panels. Heavy-duty rods, tracks, and brackets rated for the actual weight not an assumption.
Specialty mounting hardware — For concrete block walls, vaulted ceilings, and non-standard mounting surfaces. We have the hardware and the experience to mount securely in Florida’s construction types.

Installing drapery hardware is not a job for a general handyman.
The installation determines whether the hardware functions properly and looks right. Common problems we fix from previous installations:
Sagging rods. Usually caused by inadequate support brackets spaced too far apart or rods not rated for the panel weight. We specify and space brackets for the actual load.
Pulled-out wall anchors. Tampa’s concrete block construction requires specific anchors and installation methods. Standard plastic wall anchors fail. We know which anchors work in Florida walls.
Misaligned tracks. For sliding doors and wide windows, the track needs to be level and properly secured. An unlevel track causes panels to drift or jam.
Improper clearance. The rod and brackets need to extend beyond the window frame so the panels can clear the window casing when open. We measure for this before we install.
Ceiling-mounted track failures. Vaulted ceilings and concrete ceilings require different mounting methods than standard drywall. We bring the right hardware for each surface type.
Standard drapery hardware comes in a limited range of sizes. If your window isn’t standard and many Central Florida windows aren’t you’re either making the standard work with gaps and awkward overlaps, or you’re getting custom.
Custom hardware solves this:
Oversized windows — Windows wider than standard rod lengths require joined rods with hidden splices, or custom-length extruded tracks. We specify and supply both.
Bay and corner windows — These require mitered rods, corner pieces, and custom bracket positioning that can’t be improvised from home store components.
Non-standard heights — Ceiling heights in Florida homes vary more than in many markets — from 8-foot standard to 10-foot vaulted ceilings to old Florida construction with unusual dimensions. Custom hardware bridges the gap.
Weight requirements — Heavy lined drapery or layered treatments require hardware rated for the actual weight. Standard hardware is often under-rated, which is why it fails.

Yes Florida’s construction often involves concrete block, which requires specific anchors and drilling methods. We have the equipment and the experience to mount securely in concrete, brick, and stucco surfaces.
A drapery rod is a visible round or square rod that the drapery panels hang from via rings or pins. A track is a concealed system where the drapery panels hang from carriers inside a low-profile track. Tracks are better for motorization and for clean contemporary aesthetics. Rods are better for traditional and decorative aesthetics. We help you decide which is right for your situation.
Motorization typically requires a track system rather than a traditional rod. If you have an existing rod and want motorization, we can often retrofit a motorized track system. Let’s look at your specific situation.
For homes within a few miles of the coast, we recommend marine-grade hardware, stainless steel, or powder-coated aluminum. Standard finishes will corrode faster in salt air. We specify appropriate materials based on your property’s exposure.
We sell and install hardware. We don’t typically sell hardware without installation because the installation is where most hardware problems actually happen. When you buy hardware from us, you’re also buying our installation expertise.
